Unable to send email (error 0x800CCC0E)I am receiving "The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.mydomain.com', Server: 'mail.mydomain.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E" error. What should I do? Solution: Please check the following: 1. Have you recently moved your sites to WestNIC? Please note that DNS propagation may take up to 72 hours. 2. Do you have your e-mail program set to authenticate you before sending out e-mail (in Outlook Express & Outlook this should be done by checking the "My server requires authentication" checkbox)? 3. Make sure the username you are using looks like a full e-mail address: username@mydomain.com (username being the first part of the username and domain.com being the domain it's for). 4. To set up Earthlink, Mindspring, Netzero or your ISP's SMTP servers for your outgoing email you must click on your account settings in the email client you are using (Outlook Express, Eudora, Netscape etc.) In the SMTP (outgoing mail server) field you will enter smtp.earthlink.net (or whatever your dial up or direct access ISP's SMTP server is, for example, netzero smtp server would be: smtp.netzero.net) as your SMTP server. You must then enter your Earthlink / Netzero (or your ISP's) username and password for that mail server. Your email will still be from your own domain name, the only difference is in the way it is routed throughout the internet. Instead of being sent through our servers it is processed through Earthlink / Netzero (or your ISP's) servers. This allows Earthlink / Netzero (or your ISP) to monitor its users. 5. You may send email through different SMTP port. Please contact technical support for more information. © Copyright 20022008 WestNIC.net |
